The Minolta X-700 is a 35mm single-lens reflex (SLR) film camera introduced by Minolta in 1981. It was the top model of their final manual-focus SLR series. The X-700 uses the basic body of the XG-M, featuring electronically controlled stepless shutter speeds, but with the added benefit of full-program auto-exposure, in addition to aperture-priority and metered manual modes. This program mode was referred to as "MPS" (Minolta Program System).
The X-700 appeals to a wide range of photographers. With its easy-to-use fully automated program mode, it can function as a high-quality point-and-shoot camera while retaining advanced features, accessories, and lens compatibility, making it equally appealing to professionals.
The X-700 also introduced through-the-lens (TTL) off-the-film flash metering in Aperture Priority or Program mode, which automatically adjusted exposure and flash output to ensure perfect exposure—without the user having to make any manual adjustments.
This camera ships with the Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm f/2.0 lens. The X-700 is compatible with a wide range of Minolta MD/MC/SR mount lenses. Moreover, the X-700 can be used with Minolta's extensive range of accessories, such as wide-angle, telephoto, and zoom lenses, Motor Drive 1, Auto Winder G, Wireless Controller IR-1, and more.
