Background

The Canon EOS Kiss, released in 1993 (also marketed as the EOS Rebel XS in North America and EOS 500 in Europe), was part of Canon’s hugely successful entry-level EOS lineup. Compact, lightweight, and simple to use, it brought autofocus and automatic exposure to a new generation of film photographers. Its approachable design and compatibility with the Canon EF lens system made it one of the most popular starter SLRs of the 1990s.

Lens Compatibility & Format

The EOS Kiss uses the Canon EF mount, fully compatible with Canon EF lenses from 1987 onwards. It accepts standard 35mm film (color or black & white, 24 or 36 exposures). Film loading, advance, and rewind are motorized for convenience.
