The Canon FT (JL45), paired with the Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 (VG-TH-SEP26-10), has been inspected, repaired, cleaned, and tested by CPB Darkroom. The camera is in working mechanical condition, with the shutter firing correctly and all dials, buttons, and mechanical controls operating as intended.

The camera's built-in light meter is not working. This does not prevent the camera from being used, as the shutter and primary camera functions are mechanical. Exposure must be determined using an external handheld light meter or a reliable light-metering app.

The included Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 is in excellent working condition. The manual focus ring operates smoothly and correctly, while the aperture ring and aperture mechanism function as intended.

The lens optics have been cleaned and are in excellent condition overall. Small specks of internal dust remain, along with very minor scratches on the optical elements. These are minor imperfections consistent with a used vintage lens and do not significantly affect practical image quality.

Cosmetically, the Canon FT body is in good condition overall, with minor scratches and slight corrosion deposits around the hot shoe consistent with its age and previous use. The viewfinder has a couple of visible stains, which may slightly affect viewing clarity but do not affect the image recorded on film. The Canon FD 50mm f/1.4 lens body is in excellent cosmetic condition, showing only slight signs of wear and minor discolouration. The images shown depict the exact camera and lens you will receive.

Introduced in the 1960s, the Canon FT is a fully mechanical 35mm SLR from Canon's FL-system era, designed around straightforward manual operation. Its mechanical shutter and manual controls provide a traditional hands-on shooting experience, making it well suited to photographers who prefer direct control over exposure and focusing.
