Released in 1995 as the Japan-only version of the Canon EOS Elan IIe (EOS 50E), the EOS 55 introduced Canon’s innovative Eye-Control Focus (ECF) system, allowing the photographer to select focus points simply by looking through the viewfinder. It offers quiet motorized film advance, advanced metering modes, and full compatibility with Canon EF lenses.

This camera includes the Power Drive Booster grip, which enhances ergonomics and allows operation using four AA batteries instead of the standard 2CR5 lithium cell — ideal for extended shooting and easy battery replacement.
